汤涛，He is a computational mathematician, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Member of the European Academy of Sciences, Member of the Academy of Sciences of Developing Countries，He graduated from Peking University in 1984，He received his doctorate from the University of Leeds in 1989，He served as President of the Hong Kong Mathematical Society，Dean of Graduate School and Dean of Science, Hong Kong Baptist University，He served as Vice President of Southern University of Science and Technology from 2015 to 2019，From 2019 to 2024, he served as President of Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University Joint International College。He is currently the President of Guangzhou Nanfang University。

Professor Tang Tao is mainly engaged in the research of computational mathematics, and his research work in the fields of error analysis of hyperbolic equation calculation methods, differential equation spectral method theory, high-precision algorithm of phase field model, and computational fluid mechanics has been widely influential。In 2018, he was invited to give a 45-minute invited presentation at the International Congress of Mathematicians。He has served as the editor-in-chief or editorial board member of several international mathematical journals, and won the Feng Kang Scientific Computing Award, the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, and the National Natural Science Award。Committed to the popularization and promotion of mathematical culture for a long time, he founded the journal "Mathematical Culture" and served as the co-chief editor。
